"Gold", Paul Scweller, Switzerland, 2025, 11'

This experimental ski film approaches the mountain from a different perspective. Shot exclusively during the golden hour — the most beautiful yet fleeting time of day — the light is unique, but it lies close to darkness: ascents begin in the night, and descents end in shadow. When temperatures are too mild, the snow can change so drastically that the effort of the climb is barely reflected in the descent.

Complemented by footage captured with a thermal imaging camera, the film presents unfamiliar visuals that emphasize the interplay of light and temperature. Combined with an original sound composition, a dense atmosphere emerges in which image and sound intertwine. Contrasts and warmth within the cold element form the foundation of the film.
